Rebranding Sigma's flagship DSLR under the name of Foveon inventor Dick Merrill, the SD1 Merrill housed a full-color 46MP-equivalent 3-layer Foveon X3 sensor. Free from demosaicing and low-pass blurring, it rendered textures with medium-format dimensional clarity.
